City Screen is always a great place to meet and to see films. Earlier review was an error. I have been going since it opened and love the kind of films it puts on including the Saturday morning specific genre films. Fabulous place
My favourite cinema in York! Right in the city centre, lively cafe with terrace next to the river, nice simple food and coffee/tea, and free art exhibitions with pieces for sale. Good-sized screens, very clean. Nice toilets as well. And for those interested, music and other cultural events in the bar downstairs.

Went to see Jurassic World fallen kingdom 3D.. Was fantastic and so moving... Much better with prices of the tickets been lower now they just need to lower the price of food and drink slightly and all-round would be a much better experience without costing the earth.
Been going there for years although I wouldn't buy good selection of food unless it was an extravagant treat. Thoroughly enjoy the ambience of multi screen cinema with restaurants next door. A great day or evening. Plus side vue dropped to realistic ticket prices.

Great place. Popped in for a light snack and a few drinks. Staff are brilliant, especially the lad behind the bar. Great food and good variety of beers on draft. Will be going back!!!
From the outside you would think this was just another bar, however it has a small cinema room which is available for hire as well as a function room with its own bar and also accommodation. I have been to a function here twice and the food which was served was great, the prices of the drinks are about the same as everywhere else and are reasonably priced. The bar is tucked away but a good find if you want to visit a more independent place to eat and drink.

We went to see The Last Ship which we thoroughly enjoyed along with the rest of the audience who at the conclusion gave the cast a standing ovation. The only downside was either the lack of air conditioning or the temperature was not set low enough. We were sitting in the Dress Circle so people must have been melting higher up. One of the cast remarked during the show that we were sitting in a velvet lined oven!
A great theatre in the centre of York with good bus connections. The theatre is a short walk from the train station (or two bus stops on numerous lines) and is quite close to the minster. Housed in a lovely historic building with a beautiful modern extension the theatre hosts a large variety of plays and workshops throughout the year. There is also a bar/cafe at the theatre that is not too expensive and has a nice range of food and drink.

Friendly little art deco theatre, every seat has a great view of the stage.
Lovely location- parking across the road by the Yearsley swimming pool.
