RAF Linton on Ouse

RAF Linton on Ouse is one of the busiest airfields in the country, training future fast jet pilots for the Royal Air Force and Royal Navy and Weapons Systems Officers for the Royal Air Force. There are currently four Flying Squadrons at RAF Linton on Ouse: 72(Reserve) Squadron, 207(Reserve) Squadron, Central Flying School (Tucano) and 76(Reserve) Squadron, all operating the Tucano. The station is also home to Lodger Units: YUAS, TPSA, Air Cadets (North) and No 642 VGS.


Linton-on-Ouse is located 10 miles east of the A1, close to York which has historic buildings, museums, cinemas, theatres and nightclubs and, of course, the famous York Minster. Thirsk, Ripon and Harrogate are a short journey from Linton.

RAF Linton-on-Ouse has excellent sports facilities for all; rugby, football, cricket pitches, an indoor five-a-side pitch, volleyball, basketball, squash and six badminton courts as well as an aerobic area and weights bay. There is a Health Suite, The Maple Leaf - an all ranks hire facility. Bumps and Babes, Mums and Tots, meet in the Community Centre, which is co-located with the HIVE. Linton on Ouse has a Youth Activities programme run by a Community Development Officer, who organises interesting and varied activities for children aged 4 to 16. Recycling are bins situated behind the village hall and on the Station in the main car park.
